Epic

Core Victim Services

Core Victim Services are EPIC’s frontline response for people experiencing violence, abuse, or acute crisis, including survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking, elder abuse, and other violent crimes. The guiding principles are safety, dignity, and survivor choice: nothing happens to a survivor without their consent.

Services typically span the full arc of crisis response. Safety planning helps individuals assess risk and develop concrete steps to protect themselves and their children. Crisis advocacy offers emotional support, accompaniment to hospitals or police stations, and help understanding rights and options. Legal and systems navigation assists with protective orders, victim compensation applications, and coordination with law enforcement and the courts. Information and referral ensure survivors know what shelter, medical, and counseling options are available. Throughout, survivors set the pace and direction of their own recovery.
